For this year's artist-in-residence program, students delved into the avant-garde music of the turn of the century with French musician and composer Erik Satie. They used both everyday life objects - brooms, newspapers, cutlery - along with musical instruments to reinterpret two musical pieces by the composer, Sports and Pastimes and Gnossienne. The week concluded in a performance during which they will play their creations.
Performing across France and the world for more than 35 years, les Percussions Claviers de Lyon (PCL) is a music ensemble which creates unique pieces bringing together onstage marimbas, vibraphones and xylophones. Two members of the program, Renaud Cholewa and Sylvie Aubelle will be participating in the Artist-in-Residence program.
