Il ne m’est jamais rien arrivé – Vincent Dedienne
Performance in French.
Mature content.
Vincent Dedienne brings back to life the intimate voice of Jean-Luc Lagarce in a poignant monologue that mirrors his masterpiece Juste la fin du monde (Just the End of the World).
Conceived as a prelude to Juste la fin du monde, this one-man show drawn from Lagarce’s Journals contains everything that Louis—the silent son in Lagarce’s play—never tells his family: “Nothing ever happened to me… just the end of the world.” These are the words Jean-Luc Lagarce, who died of AIDS at 38, might have “cried out once and for all (…) alone in the night, equidistant from heaven and earth.”
In this monologue, Vincent Dedienne takes us, for one evening, into the life of the author and the heart of an era. It is both the intimate portrait of a young man who would become one of the greatest playwrights of the twentieth century and the reflection of a generation—a snapshot of France in the 1980s.
The performance will be followed by a post-show discussion.
